Longtime Dallas Talker Dies at 55
Longtime Dallas talk radio host Glenn Mitchell, with KERA-FM (90.1) since 1974, died early Sunday morning at age 55. Mitchell also worked for the Financial Satellite Network, KRLD-AM (1080) and the Texas State Network, and had a program scheduled to begin on the XM Satellite Network in February.
Mr. Mitchell, a native of Springfield, Mo., and a graduate of Southern Methodist University, had hosted the weekday noon to 2 p.m. Glenn Mitchell Show for the past 10 years on KERA radio. He also was known for his annual Christmas Blockbuster program, a 12-hour marathon of music, interviews and holiday trivia that aired on the Sunday before Christmas and had been a KERA tradition for more than 30 years.
